AS - Final task (Planning 4)

Today I will be doing the photography for my Music Magazine.
The model I have selected is my best friend (male), Daniyal Aslam. The reason why I selected him was that he loves singing and his passion is guitars, which is why I decided its better to use an actual guitarist rather than making someone just stand with a guitar. Secondly, he has a lot of facial hair and I thought it was better to take photographs of someone who looks mature and not like a teen star. He also goes with the theme that I selected (My mood board gives an idea of my theme). His pictures are attached below.

The equipment I have is: (Pictures attached)

  1. Nikon D5000
  2. Nikkor 50mm 1.8G
  3. Nikkor 18-55mm (Kit lens)
  4. Nikkor 55-200mm
  5. Yongnuo speedlite YN560EX

AS - Final task (Planning 3)

After extensive research of magazines, clothes, artists, photographs etc. I have decided to go with a low key photograph of a male for my cover. Either in black and white with red text or a coloured photograph with grey/light text.
I looked at a lot of pictures and then decided to construct a mood board which will help me get a better picture of my ideas in mind. Below are screenshots of me constructing my mood-board. I also researched into fonts and then downloaded 3 from dafont.com. Out of which 2 and dingbats and one is a normal font which I used to type 'Keep calm & listen to rock music.'

AS - Preliminary task (Planning 3)

Here are my inspirations for my preliminary task contents page. What I liked about these was the fact that they are very aligned and composed.
The first one has CONTENTS written at one side inside of right in the middle! And the other has the pictures on one side.I am incorporating both of these in my contents page.

AS - Final task (Planning 2)

I wanted to improve my photography skills and then start my project. Which is why I bought a flashgun this year and with the help of my media teacher learnt how to use studio lighting to show various moods. Below are the pictures I took for practice of my classmate, Ramsha Aqeel & a picture of me whilst taking them.
After this particular exercise I have decided to use either high key images or low key images for my magazines. I want to show some technique, instead of sticking to simple pictures.

AS - Final task (Planning 1)

As I am also appearing in my Media St. A2 this year I am running a bit behind on the deadlines. However I have started to download and search for magazines & pictures which will be suitable to my theme. I have printed these images and now will start to pick my inspirational aspects from all of them and then start work on my final task.

AS - Preliminary task (Planning 2)

The following are my inspirations for my preliminary task cover page (Fall/autumn colors). What I liked about these particular magazines was the depiction of autumn using the color orange and this is how I am designing my preliminary task,

AS - Preliminary task (Planning 1)

10/31/2013
For my preliminary task, I have decided to go with an autumn/fall theme. My entire magazine will be based on this theme & the dominating colors will be shades of orange & brown.
Since it is a college magazine & we are required to use mid-shots only, my focus will be on using such locations and props which give the reader a sense of it being a college magazine but at the same time aids to the idea of it being a fall issue.
