AS - Final task (Construction 17)

I then added another text box in between my columns and added a 'Quote' to it which was taken from the interview.

I also removed the Q's and A's which were there initially there for questions and answers.

AS - Final task (Construction 16)

I initially divided my pages into two equal sized text boxes each, linked those together and copy pasted my text. I also made a different text box at the top and wrote a small introduction of the artist and the person taking the interview( made up)

However then I looked at a local magazine and decided that it looks better to have three columns instead of two. I also added strokes to my questions to differentiate them from the answers. I also divided my 'Know him better' strip into two equal in width columns.

AS - Final task (Construction 15)

I changed my design a bit in photoshop after I had linked it to ID. Because I decided there was too much negative space above the artist's name in the black triangle.
I played around with that and got this as my final result. Since it was already linked to ID I had no difficulties with that.

I then made a black rectangle on the right side and copy pasted what I had written about my artist (from Microsoft word) in the color white.

AS - Final task (Construction 14)

After I started making my double spread I realised I had numbered the cover story '31' and the in it to win it '35'.
I had to rectify that mistake since my cover story takes only 2 pages.

AS - Final task (Construction 13)

I then made two facing pages in InDesign (A3 size). However, they normally come separately due to which I was facing a lot of difficulty aligning everything after I exported my PSD's. I then researched online and learnt how to show them both together.

AS - Final task (Construction 12)

I have started to make my double spread page in Photoshop because I wanted to create a clipping mask instead of just simple font.
I first made an A3 size document. Applied a crop double the size of that to creat an A2 size document. Then made a line diagnolly, filled that with black paint and then wrote the text.
After the text I made a collage of my artist's images and then applied a clipping mask.

AS - Final task (Construction 11)

I am currently writing down my artist's interview on Microsoft office.
These are not all of them & it is not necessary that I add all. I will see how much my double spread page can accommodate.

AS - Final task (Construction 10)

My final contents page, however I can't decide on one background color. I will let my peers decide for me!

AS - Final task (Construction 9)

More working shots of the contents page included.

AS - Final task (Construction 8)

I started making my contents page in ID, a few days ago. Here are the steps I followed.
I added a rectangle on the whole page from the rectangle tool and then added a black, grey, white gradient to it.
I then added a rectangle on the top and filled it with black color.
I wrote the heading contents in the font 'rock it' in the color red/maroon.
I added all of the pictures. At this point the snapping helped me a lot, since manually measuring the pictures and seeing whether they were aligned would have been a very long and monotonous task.
After the pictures I started adding the contents, again the snapping helped me a lot to align them properly.
However at this point I had difficulty deciding the font size since I didn't want it to be too large but wanted it to cover the whole page at the same time.
After writing the whole contents and dividing them into features and regulars, I described the images in one line and write their respective page numbers.
I then added 2 black 3pt lines and again snapping helped me align them with the text and with each other. And now I will be writing the numbers next to the line.

AS - Final task (Construction 7)

After I decided that I had finalized my cover page, I showed it to my peers and teachers and then decided to make changes accordingly.
The main changes I made were:
Resizing the image to show the masthead more.
Changing the contents.
Changing the main cover line's font style to make it more readable.

Pictures are attached.

AS - Final task (Construction 6)

I am currently making my cover page in InDesign and trying all sorts of things since I don't want it to look to cluttered. I also want it to look like a conventional 'rock' magazine which doesn't include too many cover/strap lines.

AS - Final task (Construction 5)

Making the cover in InDesign.
(Main cover line)

AS - Final task (Construction 4)

This is my final outcome in photoshop. I will be exporting this image in InDesign CS6 to add all of the other straplines, footer etc.

AS - Final task (Construction 3)

Steps in making my cover page (with pictures):

I firstly edited my selected picture in Adobe PhotoShop CS6.

I then masked out the background in Adobe PhotoShop CS6 in order to apply a black background.

I made a new A3 size document & dragged and dropped my image on that, I then resized my image using shift (to maintain the aspect ratio).

I wrote my masthead in the font "Rock It" downloaded from dafont.com. Even though this is in the color red at the moment. I will be changing it to white when I apply the black background. & will shift to the layer below the image. I named my magazine ROCK STATION because it is a rock magazine and I wanted to add the word rock in it. However since most names have been taken by real mags I decided to go with Rock station.
Examples of names I studied:
Rock
Rock-A-Rolla
Rock Express
Rock Sound
Classic Rock
etc

AS - Final task (Construction 2)

Whilst masking this image for a more low key effect. Generally I love masking images. However this one is the hardest to mask so far. Maybe because it is so dark and it is hard differentiating the edge from the background.
However, I am on it & I would like to use it in my contents.
